Why Vote For Meghan Borland? 

Proven Leadership on the Town Council:
Meghan promised in her campaign for town council to Get To Work, and she has. 

In her first eight months, Meghan has worked in a bipartisan manner to:

• Introduce and pass a tenants' rights law with a bipartisan vote that 79 percent of the public who commented favored 

• Submitted for and received state entry into a program that opens up grants for economic development

• Formed three new town committees: Economic Development, Beautification and Personnel that are working to address key issues in Pleasant Valley 

• Recruited, interviewed and appointed a dozen new voices to town committees

• Re-introduced the Fund Balance Policy that would hold the town to a reasonable fund balance and to reviewing how much the town is holding in reserves

• Created and joined the town Personnel Committee to ensure that appointments are made, reducing employee vacancies, so that residents receive services and the town does not accrue fund balance from unfilled positions

• Approved democratic town board rules  that allow all board members to introduce topics
  
  

Community Involvement: Meghan  has proven her dedication to Pleasant Valley with 9 years of leadership on  multiple PTA board and school committees.  Not only has she  shown up for our students, her work on these boards has transformed events, raised more than $100,000 for schools and invested in enrichment and field trips, and influenced decisionmaking.

Town involvement: 

2025: Meghan got involved in the town before being elected: Working on a bipartisan effort, she conceptulaized and created the Town Beautification Committee. The group are skilled landscape designers, gardeners and volunteers. 

In a little over one year the committee has:

• Applied for and received for Pleasant Valley "Pro-Housing Community Certification" which allows the town to access significant state grant funds. 

• Hosted a Mill Site Clean Up harnessing 55 volunteer hours in one afternoo to improve the park

• Created an Adopt-A-Spot Program

• Designed a new gateway Landscaping Project for the town's eastern entrance
  
  

Expertise in Governance:  

For 20 years Meghan was a community journalist, attending hundreds of town board, planning board and zoning meetings. She's written about how towns work well and analyzed where they need work. There's no learning curve here, she's ready to implement best practices in Pleasant Valley.
